Level 3 Award in Education and Training QCF (formerly PTLLS)

This City & Guilds qualification is suitable for: 

- Candidates who work, or want to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills
  sector.
- Candidates who are not in a teaching/training role, or who have just started a teaching/training
  role. 
- Candidates who want a short qualification to enable them to make career choices. 
- Candidates who have already achieved some Learning and Development units that can be carried
  forward into this qualification.
- Candidates who have completed the City & Guilds trainer skills, or introduction to training
  qualifications (7300 and 1106-01)

 

What does the qualification cover?

The qualification covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers/trainers in the further education and training skills sector • the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training • inclusive teaching and learning approaches • assessment of learners • facilitating learning and development for individuals • facilitating learning and development in groups • understanding principles and practices of assessment

 

What opportunities for progression are there?

The qualification allows candidates to progress into employment as teachers/trainers, as well as the following City & Guilds qualifications: • Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training • Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training • Level 3 and 4 Awards, Certificates and Diplomas in Learning and Development (6318) • Level 3 Assessment and Quality Assurance •  Awards in Planning and Delivering Training Sessions (6258) •  Awards/Certificate for Learning Support Practitioners (6259) • English for Literacy and Language Teaching / Mathematics for Numeracy Teaching (6255)

(Optional, credit value 6, level 3, GLH 25)

C306 Understanding the principles and practices of assessment

Day 1 Induction and the Context of Teaching

Day 2 - Theories of Learning and Identifying Needs. Planning and Facilitating Learning. 

Day 3 - Assessing and Evaluating Learning. 

Day 4 - Seminar Day. Presentation for Unit 306, Tutorials and Assignment Workshop. 

Day 5 - Micro teach Session. 

Day 6 - Portfolio workshop and development.
