Welcome To Ware Project

10/07/2017

We are excited to have started our new project which is run by our not-for-profit arm White Rose Training Partnership and has been awarded National Lottery Funding.

Welcome to Ware is a community project aimed at welcoming newcomers to our town by providing information about services, events & businesses in and around Ware. As well as helping build key skills and sharing interests. We aim to pull the community together and share the best parts of our town with its newcomers. We will be using our experience as a training provider and as a careers advisors to help. But we are also looking for ambassadors who would like to meet the newcomers and share their own skills, insights or just be a friendly face. Read on to find out how you can play a part.

Newcommers
Moving somewhere new can be a bit scary. You don’t know anyone yet. You don’t know what kind of entertainment is available, the best pub for a quiet drink and which takeaway tastes the best. It can be hard to know where to go to meet people you could be friends with. Welcome to Ware want to help you with that. Maybe you’re moving here from another part of the UK and you just want to meet some new people, maybe you’re moving here from another country and struggling with being in such a different place. Whatever your needs, Welcome to Ware can support you and offer a place to go for a chat with your new neighbours and some friendly advice. We can help with information about local facilities, support you in looking for work, building key skills and accessing education opportunities, as well as developing new interests or continuing ones you already have.

Become an Ambassador
Are you a long-term local of Ware? Do you like meeting new people? Would you enjoy the opportunity to make new friends and help people become valued members of the community? We are looking for Ware residents (or someone with local knowledge) who would like to get involved in Welcome to Ware. As an ambassador you would come to WtW events and occasions, offer advice and support to newcomers and hopefully make some great new friends. To become an official ambassador you are expected to attend at least three events during the year.
If you have a particular skill or interest, perhaps you can demonstrate this at an event, or lead a class of some kind.

Stakeholders
Think we should know about your organisation/ community project/ group or business? Do you offer services/ hold events or support people in our community? If you answered yes, then you may be interested in becoming a Welcome to Ware stakeholder. We will pass on your information to our Newcomers and refer them to you as necessary. We will, of course, welcome people that you refer to us if you think we can help them.
You can be a stakeholder and an ambassador if you wish.
